Having jowned the club of Those Whose Electronics Have Proved Incompatible With Salt Water, I'm obliged to apologize to anyone who has called or texted over the past few days. I've heard the phone ring, beep and squawk but it's screen has remained blank, and all messages have been lost. Sorry :-(

Over Auckland Anniversary Weekend, ie next weekend.  It's attended by all the flash classic yachts from Auckland.  They race up on Saturday, race around Mahurangi on Sunday and race back to Jafa-land on Monday.  Latest reports are that La Chica, Footprints, Oryx and Sweet Thursday are planning  to be there.

I'd love to get there... unfortunately Fantail is just south of Whangaroa Harbour, traveling at the pace of an asthmatic kelp wandering home from the supermarket with two heavy bags of groceries...

PS - Paul and I are vaguely looking at meeting up again somewhere south of Whangarei in a month or so. If anyone was keen to join us and put a date forward, we'd get our act together. I have a new phone, same number. 0204 1122200

Slipping along nicely, eh?  Well your avatar photo shows the Hen and Chooks on the bow, so you should get there in time.  Asthmatic kelp? Now there's an image to keep a person awake at nights.

Hah. Those of us in Northland who are missing the Mahurangi experience are having a junket regardless. Fantail's hook went down in Pomare Bay this evening, and her nearest neighbour is none other than Grand Pha. We've just been over to swap true tales concerning Alan and Pauline on Zebedee, who were seen escaping from Motuarohia Island earlier in the day...
