    Oh Lord why hast thou lumbered me with dodgy motors?
    Got the outboard mostly apart but it's been messed with in the past. The stubborn stud turned out to be a length of stainless steel threaded rod and immovable. The drive shaft is also rusted into the powerhead...so I need another outboard.:(

    Gary the long awaited voyage into real water is delayed for a bit longer.
     I have a local small engine repair place willing to have a go at getting the lower leg off and replacing the broken bolt. Also I'm still waiting on the kitty to fill sufficiently to buy the flares and EPIRB I have to have on board before I can venture forth. Patience is supposed to be a virtue but for me it seems to be a way of life.:)

    My old Johnson ran despite itself. Super reliable it was. Hope you get it sorted. Don't you have a voyage other side of that bar soon?

    I've been thinking about this over the last few months.  I picked up the outboard that I'd kindly been given.  I thought I'd give it a quick run in a barrel just to check all was well and I've had a devil of a job to get it running smoothly!!

    Time and tide wait for no man, so I've shelved the o/b well until next winter.... if at all!

    I've just caught up with the forum... and just watched your video.  Fantastic!!  Well done and what a great way to capture the early life of Redwing.

    Sailing and any thought of sailing has ground to a halt. it seems I have exchanged inboard engine woes for outboard motor woes.
    I brought my outboard home to replace the impeller. Well there are two bolts and one stud holding the lower outboard leg in place and with the correct spanners I proceeded to remove them. First the nut and washer on the forward stud, no worries. Then the bolt on the right hand side and once again no worries. The bolt on the left hand side was a bit stiff but seemed to be turning but then the head sheered off!
    Well, that's a pain but it's fixable...sadly the motor was not done with me yet. I managed to crack the join at the aft end of the leg but no amount of anything I could think of would induce the stud to move.
    So it's bite bullet and take it to a mechanic...that's next week.
    The good news is I can start on my new outboard bracket tomorrow.:)
