I stood on Penlee Point to watch the start in a 25-30 knot breeze and blazing sunshine. With only a phone for taking pictures, I got none worth looking at. There were 7 participants, 6 under Bermudan sloop rig, and bringing up the rear, a tiny junk with the sun & moon "Mingming" emblem on the well reefed sail. I didn't recognise her - does anyone know anything about her?

Is this a good camera to watch Sunday's JC start?

    Bonsoir

Mingming has been masted and launched today in Roscoff marina. I'm now working to assemble the wing around the new full wishbones.

    Bonsoir

In the present case, as I already sailed the Jester Challenge 20 years ago, I'm not realy frustrated.

    Bonsoir

The version 2 of the Mingming wingsail is not to much different of the version 1.

There are two main differences the sheeting system and the wishbown structure.

The whisbons are now going as far as the lutch.

As aconsequence, the sheeting system is much simplified to come back to a traditional sheeting system.

    Bonsoir

A 100 miles accross the channel for a maiden sail of a wingsail prototype is already a demanding challenge. The met seems to be favorable with a light to moderate NE wind. So , I consider that my wife is rather permissive !!

I should start on the 6th as there is a northely scheduled on the 5th.

Nice to hear that you went back on Ingeborg, a great step forward showing that you are recovering nicely.

I'm getting older but the only thing I ask to my doctors is that I want to be abble to keep sailing. Up to now, they seem to understand.

    Yes Eric,
it's not fun to get old.
Today I entered my Ingeborg for the first time since July, last year. Nice and dry inside, thanks to a friend who has looked after her.

I am looking forward to read your reports about Mingming with the new rig.

    Cheers

    Bonsoir

I will only support the starters.

My new wingsail will definettly not yet sufficently tested to croos th pound. it's already a challenge to cross the channel ! it will be almost the first try.

I'm now an old man and my wife posted a veto ! and she is probably right.
