The web team could do with some help proof reading pages of the site, ie help spot typos/errors/omissions/dead links. Annie spends ages proof reading magazine articles and other material, so she is banned from responding to this request.

If YOU could help, please say so here.

Hi Brian, I'd be happy to help with proof-reading.  My schedules are a bit unpredictable, as I may be in areas without internet coverage at times, but only for a week or two at the most and usually much less.  Let me know what I can do.

Hi Graham. That's great, thanks. There's no hurry for this, so your irregular wifi access needn't be a problem. How about being 'responsible' for checking the pages that change monthly? These currently are:

    the Home Page
    the Members' Area page
    the Boat Locations page
    the New Members page
the Boat of the Month Archive
and after every new mag has been uploaded, the Magazine Downloads and Index page.

t's just a case of working through them looking for typos (there's an example), dodgy grammar, dead links and any other infelicities that jump out, usually to the reader rather than the writer. It would be perfect if you would eventually get to fix them too - site 'admin' access and tutorials can be arranged!

Annie will I'm sure get back to you in due course re any 'proper' reading that she could use help with.

My one worry with you taking this on is that you already give so much to the JRA, e.g. your superb Hall of Fame articles and posts. Don't take too much on.

    Hi Brian,

I'd be happy to take a look at the pages specified each month, and any work Annie would like a hand with too.  Language is my "thing" so it won't be too onerous.  I am cautious about taking too much responsibility - such as committee work - given my health issues, but think I can manage this task.

I hope to take off for a 4 - 6 week cruise next week if a weather window opens up as it seems to be doing - it has been a volatile summer - but will have plenty of time free.

Hi Graham. That's a very kind and much appreciated offer, many thanks. I think you should enjoy your cruise and then get stuck when you stop bouncing around. Consider yourself contracted on your return. Of course you can still twist my arm. Up to you.

Hi Brian, you are obviously just testing my skills here.  You didn't really mean stuck, though there's a lot of sandbanks in Moreton Bay so I just might.  You wanted to see if I'd notice your deliberate error...I am happy to get stuck in pretty much right away, as I will always have some free time, since I am conducting an inshore cruise.  I have just proof-read the Home and Members Area pages and am going to email you the results shortly (some errors).

Hi Graham. I wish I had been testing your skills. You passed the test anyway... I think I was simply dozing off. Will read your email in wide awake mode. Thanks for checking those pages. The others could do with a look, as they've all been tweaked this month.

Thanks for all the work you did on those pages, Graham, and thanks for now offering to take a look at 'About Us'.

I had another look at About Us.  It all seems ok, except for "circum-navigators".  That should read circumnavigators, according to accepted usage, whatever Spellcheck may indicate!
      (Actually, Spellcheck flags both usages.)
