Brings to mind Patrick O'Brian's wonderful description, in The Ionian Mission, of a rhinoceros 'of the grey species' being exercised aboard one of HM ships...

Imagine the indignity of having to carry your buffalo fore-and-aft!

At last, I've learned the difference between a junk and a sampan - a junk is capable of carrying a water buffalo athwartships.

    Thanks, Chris!

Thanks Chris, brilliant. Didn't know the Chinese used dagger boards, and doubles as a boarding plank to boot.

    Brilliant Chris.  Many thanks.

Worth inclusion in the mag perhaps?  (Subject to permission?)

Historically interesting review of a Hong Kong-built 30' Junk, not unlike Sunfung, published by Popular Mechanics in 1963.
