Fellow member Roger Tritton, sent me a link to this lovely article about Blondie.  As far as I can tell, it is written with respect, but with a lovely light touch.  The author links Hasler's interest in junk rig with the fact that the Royal Navy designed something similar for their kayaks.  Could well be.

    Bonjour

I confirm the quality of the article. I would like to precise that the "something similar for their kayaks" is about the deck layout and not the junk rig.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing, Eric. Greenland kayaks often have a near-circular deck aperture, and this is possibly the source of inspiration for the Cockle Mk II and afterwards, Jester 's hatch.

In Blondie's bibliography (https://books.google.fr/books/about/Blondie.html?id=hkodOQAACAAJ&redir_esc=y) it is written that he tried several rigings for Jester before choosing the modified Junk rig for it's capacity of being handled from a hatch.

Indeed a lovely article - and a great opportunity to knock a bit of rust off my very rusty French :-)
