Hi I'm looking to sell my one-off steel junk rig boat. 11.7m converted from gaff rig to single masted junk with an indestructible galvanised steel mast and grp battens. Boom and yard are aluminium. Engine is a Yanmar 3YM30 in excellent condition with only about 450 hours; serviced every year. The hull is generally sound but not pretty, with some cosmetic fettling required - has been thickly painted with 2-pack poly paint. Electronics are non-existent, there is no electricity on board, I just use a laptop for navigation. The heads is just a bucket-and-chuck-it. Simplicity is the name of the game - just one through hull fitting underwater and that is a Marelon resin seacock for the engine intake. The big red sail is non-cambered, tired but functional - I'm not sure of the sail area and the boat could be considered a little under-canvassed in light airs, but reassuringly solid in a blow.

Below it is roomy and comfortable - 6'4" headroom, plenty of light through the ports and hatch, rather crudely but cosily wood panelled, clean cushions, and painted in cheerful colours. There is a Davey Hotpot solid fuel burner fitted which keeps it very toasty in winter. Four burner Plastimo lpg stove and oven for cooking.

Keel: she started life as a gaff rig with a centre board, but the previous, and original, owner converted her to junk rig for ease of use and decided to remove the centre board for simplicity as he was convinced that it made little difference to performance whether or not it was lowered. So now there is what I would describe as a long stub keel which gives a draught of about 4 feet.

I've owned ed the boat for about 12 years but now have a young family who would prefer a multihull ("one that doesn't lean over, Daddy"), hence the reluctant sale.  I've put her on cheap reflecting the reality that this is not a 'yottie' boat but is fun an practical. It's cheap and cheerful and I take her out to Scilly a few times every summer where it is by far the scruffiest boat in New Grimsby sound. Maybe you've spotted her! For sale here hoping for an enthusiast to take her on before I advertise her to all the deadbeats and students in the area to live aboard and not sail her.

Alongside in Hayle harbour, West Cornwall, where she could stay for a bit.

I am working away much of this autumn, so the most reliable way of contacting me may be via my email drpetercarr@live.com
