    No longer For Sale...

A new owner has taken possession of this boat.

1984 Newbridge Coromandel for sale, lying freshwater River Thames.

    Bilge keels, 21' x 7'2 x 31" draught, 1 Tonne

Hasler-McLeod junk rig, solar-electric drive and yuloh

She is 'Iliad' ex 'minim' ex 'Little Min' ex 'Missy Moto'.

As Missy Moto she suffered some damage when she broke loose of her mooring. Taken on as a project by a new owner, she was soon passed on, fortunately to a very capable cruising couple from Yorkshire.

As Little Min they lovingly restored her to a high standard in Greece, then took her home and kept her well-maintained in Yorkshire. In 2017 she was bought sight unseen by a lucky New Zealander for northern summer adventures.

As minim she was further improved, equipped with solar-electric motor and functional yuloh, had her mast step and partners solidly rebuilt, bottom & topsides repainted. Much well-selected gear was added.

She sailed from the River Deben in Suffolk and via the North Sea and East Coast Rivers into the Thames and London, and began wandering canals and rivers. In off-seasons she was lifted to dry storage in Suffolk, Oxfordshire and Devon.

In three good summers minim made two very successful trips to the top of the Upper Thames. (An unusual type of boat there, but perfectly suited - and an eye catcher among the barges and narrowboats.) She travelled inland waterways by solar-electric power with yuloh (Chinese sculling) auxiliary, the sailing rig carried along, ready for emerging at some coast.

After covid's interruption, she scrubbed up beautifully and explored the Kennet & Avon Canal and familiar River Thames. And there attracted her present owner.

As Iliad, she wandered to the top of the freshwater Thames yet again. She lies in that river awaiting someone's dreams, whether of inland waters or blue ocean. She is a Coromandel, after all.
