Our late father built Mio but unfortunately passed away in 2020. The boat sailed just one shorter trip before that and no one has sailed the boat since then. We know that during the trip between southern Sweden and Denmark the boat encountered strong winds which partly damaged the “ribs” (battens) for the sails. The fabric for the sails is fine but the bamboo battens need to be replaced.

Mio is built after a prototype of a Bris-boat of Sven Yrvind with the same mindset concerning safety. She is a long-distance live aboard sailing boat with 2 masts, a centerboard and no cockpit on deck. She is built to be able to sail alone but two to three people can easily fit on the boat. She currently has no engine. The folding masts are in good condition.

Our father invested a lot in instruments and equipment over the years but we are not sure how up to date they are.

Location:  close to the town of Östersund, Sweden, on the shores of Sweden's fifth-largest lake, Storsjön.

Please feel free to contact us for more information.

From the webmaster:  On the website of Sven Yfvind, you can learn more about his Bris boat.  His philosophy is:  Simple Habits, Simple Boat. Yfvind sailed a 19-foot Bris around Cape Horn in 1980.

Hej Anna, do you know anything about the potential logistics of getting it to the Baltic Sea?  In the photo it's on the floor of a building.  Given its weight and location, how difficult would it be to lift it onto a trailer and to the sea?  Also, what is the condition inside?  Clean, dirty, moldy, etc.?  Tak sa mycket.  -- Rafael, Webmaster

    Hi Rafael,

Mio weights about 1700 kg and was transported on à trailer from Östersund to the south of Sweden•

She i currently partly hanging from the ceiling and I think she cam be liften on to a trailer. It takes about 3.5 hours from her current location to Sundsvall ,the closest harbour by the Baltic sea.

I will upload som more photos shortly but most of her interior like bedding etc were kept on an attic with mice and has to be thrown away.

    Cheers

    Anna

    Here are some more photos.

There is no mold in the interior what I can see but it is quite dusty. My guess is that she require some work before ske is nice to live on and sail agai.
