JRA member Peter Scandling is organising a junket to coincide with the start of the 2014 Jester Challenge in Plymouth, UK, which is on Sunday 11th May. Details are sketchy at the moment but subject to weather conditions will include accompanying the competitors to the start and of course seeing them off. Likely anchorages include Cawsand Bay, Jennycliff Bay and Barn Pool.

More info will appear in due course or you can contact Peter by email

    Hi Peter.

Paradox (currently afloat in Sutton Harbour, Plymouth) will join in unless we're out of the water. Should be back in by then.

There's also a new steel junk schooner in Sutton Harbour for the winter, called Doolittle. I'll try to rope them in too, though they are ex JRA members. (I'll be working on them.)

There's Chris Galienne too, of course, (China Girl) who I believe said in an email that he hopes to be there.

Jonathan Snodgrass's Lexia (Dartmouth) may be there.

Suggest once the new year arrives we email all members who are anywhere near.

Not sure whether we would be able to make it but certainly interested Peter. Well done!

Good to see that this planned event is getting some response.  Even better would be to see some names I don't recognise getting involved.

See the post above in which we said we'd email members local to Plymouth. If we think it's a good idea (members have been informed via the last mag and the AGM news material), do you want to do that with your SS hat on, or shall I or Peter?

Unfortunately Paradox will be ashore from May 1st for most of May, so the rally is out for us, though we will of course show up on foot. The yards were all full in April (winter storms knock-on effect) so that date was the first we could get. Maybe the sun will shine too!

Chris.... I'm trying, believe me I'm trying.  I still hope to be on the water in time. But if I have anymore unforeseen problems it'll be a miracle!!!  I won't go into detail of the latest horror here, but suffice to say I removed a structural bulkhead by leaning on it!!!

I've had no response from the magazine piece which suggested members might like to email me for details.  I'll send an email to local members tomorrow.

In between putting the boat back together and deliveries I'm working for a local guy servicing the moorings on various stretches of the Tamar.  Today I noticed a junk rigged schooner on a trot mooring above the Tamar Bridge.  Unfortunately I couldn't see the boats name.  Any ideas who owns it?

Brian you should have contacted Huggins yard in Toproint.  The yard is now only half full! Shame you can't make it.  What about the non-members you mentioned... Are they sailing yet?

JDS mentioned when we met that he might be able to make it.... but I'm not sure of the current state of play.

    Peter

Oh dear - that doesn't sound to good, Peter.  I have heard of Contessa 32s popping their bulkheads after a serious thrash to windward, but one would hope that at least you could have launched, first.  On the other hand, maybe much better to find out now than later!!

Surprise, surprise!  Certainly I have found direct contact with local members works very well here in NZ.  Best of luck, Peter.

Thanks for volunteering to do that emailing, Peter. If you need any help, just ask.

No idea about the boat above the Tamar. Never go that far these days. Did visit Huggins a while back but didn't ask about space as it got the thumbs down from us. Decided we've got too used to being near Plymouth town centre shops and cinemas :-)

Latest from JDS by email is he will be out of the water in the Dartmouth area 'early May' but he may get to the junket, I assume either by water or land.

Bad luck re your bulkhead :-(
