Using a alluminium (dingy or other) mast as yard?

    Hi there,

I'm re-fitting my NA 29 and building a new cambered sail. Currently the boat has a wooden Yard but I am considering using an aluminum mast from another boat. I used a dinghy mast as a yard on my last junk conversion (Pearson Packet 18ft) and it worked great, super easy to hank the head of the sail and I'm sure it was more than strong enough. Is there any information as to what size the mast (Yard) should be in comparison to sail area? I like the fact that in comparison to wood the aluminum mast (yard) has a lot better weight to strength ratio.

    Thanks, Jonathon
