Spot on, Annie. Everything you say makes perfect sense. It was good to hear my own views affirmed from such an authority.

Not sure how long this has been for sale but just came across Annie's first (?) boat, still going strong.... Would love to hear about your thoughts now Annie, comparing your expectations of the new boat to your memories of how the first boat performed.

    hi annie

i watched the longer video as soon as i could find the time – and i was really impressed. (well, i played it at 150% speed rate and stopped sometimes to enjoy a part of the boat – in the end it might have been an hour as well…)

if you aren't used to it, it's always a bit strange to see yourself explaining something on video, but your presentation is worth to be seen!

i look forward to 'inhale' the other one.

    thank you!

Well, David, me dear, at least it will just be a a five-minute wonder, soon to be lost among all the other zillions of things on YouTube.  in spite of it all, I'll get someone to video your lovely boat under sail.  At least I won't need to talk on that!  I do think quite a few people will be intrigued to see the junk and the bilge boards together. ideally, Tystie would be there, too :-)

"O wad some Pow'r the giftie gie us
to see oursels as ithers see us!"

In truth, dear Annie, there's 90% good meat in both videos. I could trim away a few minutes of pauses, but there would still be almost an hour of quality material on Fanshi alone. It's all interesting stuff, as Graeme's and Paul's immediate responses show.

No, you've created something beautiful that's well worth showing off to the world, so stiff upper lip, girl, smile through clenched teeth, growl at me if you must, but in the end you'll have to accept your fifteen minutes of fame.

[Google Analytics are showing well over a hundred viewings already. So much for nobody being interested]

For pity's sake, David, what are you doing to me?  I sent you the video Carola took assuming you'd pick out the meet and make it about 15 minutes long at the most.   I decided to look at it yesterday and see it runs for over an hour!!  (I didn't watch it.  I have neither the time nor the data and find looking at myself on screen deeply embarrassing.)  I had expected 2 people to come and film for about a quarter of an hour and instead a whole mob arrived.  I was completely unprepared and well ready for a stiff drink long before they left.  I hate to think what sort of rubbish I said and now it's there for immortality.  I can only apologise in advance for some of the nonsense I am sure I spouted.

In truth, I am not fond of video and even with the best computer on the planet and all the time in the world, nothing would have induced me to edit it, which is why I sent it to David, when I realised that Carola had too much going on to do so.  I let Carola take it because David wanted one.  It would appear that one or two JRA members are sufficiently kind and tolerant to put up with my burblings.  As I say, I haven't watched it, but suspect that the best thing is to mute the volume and fast forward (can you do that with video?) to the bits you find interesting.

However, I am pleased with how SibLim has turned out so I suppose I must also thank David for sharing the video and letting people see how his ideas have translated into reality.  It was made and I'm sure edited, wtih the best of intentions.  I am just embarrassed that it is so long: it seems unbelievably egocentric.

As for the other video that David has put up:  I just watched the first couple of minutes of it and was a bit taken aback.  I was completely unaware of the fact that Carola was still filming me.  (She had this funny, little camera on a stick and didn't seem to be paying any attention to it most of the time.  That's why I thought that by the time David had edited it, there wouldn't actually be much useful material.  Obviously I have no idea how these things work!) I am now covered in blushes and can only plead that all these people are new to cruising - left Europe just a couple of years ago - and I was trying to encourage them to keep their dreams alive (and downsize!).  Most voyagers are feeling pretty depressed at the moment, with Covid looking to be here for a while yet.  Since the video was taken, 2 of my visitors have put their boat for sale and gone back to Europe.  One of them has died  - a lovely man and the only other person there, who had been sailing for a while.  Not long before he died, he told me that his only regret was that he hadn't discovered the sailng way of life sooner.   Claus took a huge interest in my boat and we were planning meeting up at anchor during the summer.  It makes you think ...

A lot of the above is off topic, but it's my thread so I'm not going to apologise!

I can only echo Paul's words.

Lovely design, lovely build - and lovely video.

Each of you (David and Annie) must indeed feel very proud.

    Wow David and Annie

What an amazing video, she looks so beautiful.

You both must be so proud.

David she just looks right from every angle.

My favourite line is the aft edge of the cabin top at the companionway - it reminds me of Samwise Gamgee’s front door!

Annie your workmanship is just stunning. I love all the details - the curve on the underside of the companionway step. The junk profile wind vane. The simple elegance of the white paint and varnished wood. EVERYTHING.

    Wow

    Wow

    Wow

At the risk of hijacking this topic. I am interested in David getting 23 years plus with single pack paint on his mast.  If you were doing it today how would you do it ??

This topic would be a better place to continue a discussion about mast construction.
