Ahem. Marie G ain't a schooner, Brian. Better change that before Ketil sees it.

Congratulations, Edward, a win is a win. Maybe you scared them off beforehand?

Monday evening , there I was on the line.  Shrimpers had gone, followed 5 mins. later by Class 1, then  after 5 more minutes by the J24's.  Class 2 & 3 were starting together.
Amiina being Class 3.  Problem, no other boats came out to play.  Why not ?  Wind was perfect F4, gusting F5.  Dashed round the course on my own, ending up crossing the finishing line with the J24s who had a longer course.  Very frustrating, but hope for something  proper to report soon.  Amiina seemed to do well enough to windward, against a strong tide, tacking through 80 degrees.  She surprised them all with her speed and balance downwind.  Now to find some proper competition.

Yes, in the same way that there's a forum for wingsails, another minority interest, and for the same reasons.

Might well be a good idea, Brian.  I think those new to junk rig, and even more those people still sceptical about it, might find the posts of great interest.

Should we start a specific 'Junk Racing' forum? The 2012 posts above are in this General forum. Leading by example for 2013, our Hon. Sec. Edward Hooper could have plenty to write about as he's entered Amiina in the 'Round the Island' (IOW) race, while our intrepid new Chairman is already sorting out Lexia for May's Single Handed Transatlantic Race.

We would copy the above posts into the new forum and make it available to members as well as non-members; the latter would get to read posts via the Home Page. Each 'boy racer' could have his own 'Topic' (thread) on the forum.

Please let me know here whether you think this is a runner or not.
