    Bonjour

The activities are coming more precise but are, off course weather dependant.

The boats will arrive on the 15th by sea or trailers. The AGM will take place in the morning and the first part of the afternoon will be dedicated to Junk rig promotion :
    video presentations,
    demonstration on a physical model,
explanation by the skipper «  hands on » on board,
sailing demonstration in front of the harbor.

Afterwards the boats will sail in an informal race towards the « Barre de flot » (next to the Chateau du taureau) and then sail together up the river towards Morlaix harbor to spend the night.

The next morning the high tide lock is early and leave a lot of time to sail together and stop for lunch at (weather depending) at Carantec or preferably Ile de Batz (quite impressive at low tide). Late in the afternoon the boats would sail back to Roscoff.

I propose a simple meal (mussels are nice) in one of the  blouson marina restaurant on the friday or sunday evening.

For the ones sailing back, there are lots of wine and bear shops at Roscoff.

To practice your French, I suggest the Youtube JRA videos in French on introduction to junk rig (you already know the subject so you may concentrate on the language).

Annie, have you got any wise advice about avoiding a faux pas when you buy a bottle of wine for a discerning French boat owner? ( I'm thinking stick to Martinique rum!)

Only a Frenchman can drink most Martinique rum!  The rest of us can't swallow it, although the best St James is the exception to the rule.  Hmm, tricky.  What about whisky?  (Without the 'e')  That usually goes down well and shouldn't cause too many xenophobic dramas!

Frenchmen don't drink Martinique rum dry !

The most often way is the "petit punch" with sugar-cane sirup and grenn lemon juce but I would prefer a nice "Planteur" with a mix of Martinique juce (mango, papaye...). Very dangerous because you don't fill the alcoolic level of the micture.

Thanks for getting back to me, hearing that, I might bring some home brewed mead to show my appreciation! Always open to learning about why someone’s boat is the best; which decisions they’ve made and how, and to look out for ideas that I can mull over. Anyway, I don’t want to shove this thread off topic so I’ll shush, but I’m looking forward to it (the meet not the shushing).

I don’t want to commit any major faux pars and offend anyone.

You sound like the sort of person who would be a delight to have around.  Just be aware that everyone is convinced that their boat is the best ;-) and if you go for a sail on someone's boat, it's nice to buy them something like a bottle of wine (if the drink) to show you appreciate their making the time for you.  Otherwise, all you need to do is admire someone's pride and joy and you will be mates for life!

There are already 6 boats registered plus several skippers coming to the AGM

I'll be there on the 14th, the boat is very recognisable, it has Brittany-Ferries written on the side.

I also expect to be there courtesy of Brittany Ferries.
So that's a whopping 11% of the Irish membership heading to Roscoff!
