Thanks for the replies, I haven't heard from Rael Dobkins, Alan Mulholland or Robert Hegarty but the article is more or less written. And then someone goes and launches Kokachin...

I am pleased to report that I have just completed building and launched a new 30ft junk in Bozburun in Turkey.

She is a Nigel Irens designed hull with an Alan Boswell hinged batten sail. We had the first sail yesterday in very blustery conditions and and not only did she exceed my wildest expectations in terms of performance she also deeply impressed my crew who included an Olympic Flying Dutchmen gold medalist in terms of windward ability and tacking angle.

I have an extensive photographic record of the construction and will try to put together a more comprehensive article now.

Love Bozburun and the vicinity. I helped build the original charter base in Orhaniye, and used to really enjoy taking the dirt bike up those sand tracks.

We intend to head that way in Tapatya in a couple of years. If you're still about....

    Its a good idea Jan.

This JR scow is plodding along slowly in NZ

    (A little sister to Havoc).

    null

In the face of old age and family issues, its odds on who will reach the finishing line first, me or the project, so it might not make it to the magazine.

Frank Schapitz is building a David Tyler Sibling, any other Siblings out there?

I believe that Robert Hegarty is building one in Australia, but I haven't heard anything about his progress recently.

I thought it would be a good idea to have a section in the JRA magazine that covers building and launchings of boats that are being built specifically as junk rig boats, from the drawing board up.  In the forthcoming July issue I'll just introduce the idea and then in the autumn issue start on more detailed reporting. Deadline for the magazine is imminent.

So, who knows what's out there? Off the top of my head I can think of:

Tony Brown building the Benford Dory,

Frederick's Chris Morejohn-Hogfish Junk Yawl 34, Some other Morejohn boats are being built around the world, are they JRA members?

    Kris has just launched Caravelina,

Frank Schapitz is building a David Tyler Sibling, any other Siblings out there?

Alan Mulholland is cracking on with his Wave Rover and I believe a number of other Wave Rovers are either started or almost so.

Rael Dobkins is building another junk rig proa in the Black Sea.

    Who have I missed?

Sounds like a splendid idea. I am aware of another couple of Benford dories that are certainly very close to starting, or perhaps already building. Then there's Doug on Seeker....
