Yordan, if you go to Directories > Members Boats and search for Hurley 22 you will find three listed. It may be worth getting in touch with the owners. You can do that by clicking on their names in the search results in order to get their email addresses.

Re GRP masts there are some links to manufacturers in Junk Info > Useful Links > Sails, Masts and Gear, and there has been some discussion of them recently in the Technical Forum.

Hi Peter. Thanks for answer. I think to sail round world, havent exactly plan, but will try to folow summer something and most of the time will live on boat. It wiill be singlehand sailing probably. Yes, I am agree that Foksong is better than Hurley 22, many Hurleys crossd Atlantic and some was round world. I think to upgrade the boat same as main-rized cokpit(as"Jester) and to make her standing, will be enough space inside for me, food and water... But with "Rose" is somethink strange- logtime on marcuet and when I contact them... they react somehow dont want to sell her. I have built, repair and sell many small wooden lake boats, also three sailboat and when some potential buyer contact me I always sent him maximum pictures, videous and complete answers on all qestions. They now that is not priority to buy"Rose"-I have my boat which I know completely and could convert her on first place where will have more/better job than here, even to dont find some to buy my present mast...or there are other junk rigged boats for sale too. Just start to think that they dont want to make me to buy "Rose". Will see what will happend, I'm not rush to take desision. And definitely will find here enough of information... What you think about GRP mast?

    Hi Yordan

    and welcome to the JRA.

Firstly you will find lots of help and advice here.  And of course lots of different opinions :-)

It might help if you tell us what sort of sailing you are planning to do?  Offshore?  circumnavigation, coastal cruising?  live aboard?

I can't help you with 'Rose' I'm afraid and I think she has been for sale a long time.  Looking at the description it says she has hinged battens.  I think these have been found to not work well as a method of adding camber to the sail.

You have a folksong and if you're planning to sail long distances I would think she is a better boat for the job.  I have a Contessa 26 and I believe her to be a better sea boat than a Hurley... but of course that is just my opinion.

I am based in Plymouth and there are several junk rigged boats here.  Perhaps you could sail over and look at the options.  If you decide to convert your current boat I can let you have a sail on mine and see what you think before committing.

    Best of luck

    Peter

Hi everyone there, last fift years(after I sold my last boat"Odin") I spent to look and collect money for aaaaa BOAT. I looked for Hurley 22 or Folkboat 25(or derivatives) and I found my Folksong 25-briliant boat.I spent a lot of time to prepare her for lifeaboard...splice new rig(bermuda rig)...make her standing inside and rize the cokpit as "Jester"s cokpit... and more more...The previous owner catched me with idea to convertr her in junk rig... I saw and red alot of materials in internet and youtube for junkboats and deside to convert her rig. I tryed to sell the mast with sails and new spliced rig... but there is no interest. A frend advice me to sell the boat and to look for junk rigged one, I start to work on that idea and found at first vew very good junk rigged Hurley 22"Rose".(I know everything for Hurley 22 which is in internet....greate boat! And as junk riggged have to be better, I think... if everything is ok). So I contact with "Sunbird" for more detailed information and pictures, and ask simple question how is she perform, is there some videous to send me-I dont believe that the owner does not videous, but even witowt videos, just to answer how she perform, anyway from "Sunbirth" send me old boat pictures and not enough information to make to spent time to go from Dublin till Southampton to check her and eventually to buy the boat, they dont tell nothing about boat performing and videous,I think that they do not inform owner that ther is someone who is interested about "Rose". All that make me to look for information in other sources... so my question is - is there someone who have seen junk rigged Hurley 22 "Rose" under sail and hiw she perform any information will be verry helpful for me. I realy want Hurley 22, but better to buy bermuda rigged one and to convert it by myself... I have buyer for my boat, but still delay the deal, because everithing on my boat is coming through my hands and I know that is ok, and I can go this summer with "Breeze" and first place where find better job to convert her. So any information about "Rose" or other junk rigged Hurley 22 will be welcome.

    Thanks in advance.
